Security guards protect property from theft, vandalism, and illegal activity. Security guards traditionally patrol, observe and report, address non-life threatening emergencies, and remove unauthorized personnel from property. Daily functions typically include monitoring for unusual activity, checking security badges, patrolling, preventing crimes, and creating written incidents reports and property reports about damage and theft. Needs to be in good physical health, have the ability to pass a background check, have a clear credit report, and work alone or in a team. Education requirements vary from high school diploma, or equivalent, to post secondary education. Some companies require formal training programs in order to use firearms. In several states, guards must be licensed in order to perform their duties.
